BR2 H2 STARDOME($7) Ran well last start when back in distance. The step back out to the 2200m is ideal. Only goes up 1kg into this and the track suits too. Wet tracks are no concern and from barrier 5 Should be up on pace. With a good run in transit should be very hard to beat !
STARDOME($7); 3rd/$2.10 place beaten 0.4L, given a great run mid field, there at the right time but just couldn’t reel in the 2 leaders.
BR5 H9 SHE CAN SING($5) Pretty good win last start. Loves the track and distance and is great 2nd up. Begins well and should be up on pace maybe even lead here from barrier 3. No trouble with the wet and will be super hard to beat again.
SHE CAN SING($5); 7th beaten 4.3L, nice run just off the speed couldn’t pick up in the straight. Maybe 3rd up next time on a better track.
SR10 H5 NIKAU SPUR($5) Great return first up when unlucky being posted wide and held up at vital stages of the race. The step out to the 1400m is ideal and is good second up! The wet ground wont be a problem. Drops 1kg into this. From barrier 11 should be midfield and if he gets the right run he will be steaming home over the top of them. Great Chance.
NIKAU SPUR($4.20); 4th beaten 10.96L, last as they turned never recovered, leaders ran 1/2.
MR4 H2 GRANDSLAM($3.20)Ran well last start. Stays at the 2000m which is ideal and is great 3rd up. He won the Alister Clarke stakes(g2) race last prep 3rd up and is in similar form again. A drop in class. From barrier 10 i would like to see him up on pace. If he gets that run he is super tough to get by.
GRANDSLAM($3.20 -$1.85); FIRST GIDDYUP!!! Jamie Kah got across easily with a 19+ split the first 200m then a super quick split 1600m to the 1400m then slowed them to 12+ splits until the 800m then upped the tempo it was done and dusted from there. We don’t normally wax lyrical over a ride but this was an absolute masterclass on how to ride a front runner over a middle distance.
SUMMARY: On a tough day last week we had a cracking day to say the least. Sir Warwick almost made it exceptional only to be gunned down late for Our Best. The races are starting to kick into gear in Brisbane with the winter carnival just around the corner. Lets dive straight into it and talk about Brisbane R7 The Mick Dittman Plate and we think Alpine Edge($6.50) can take it out here. Step out to the 1600m last prep but didn’t handle the rise in trip. First up he is unbeaten. From barrier 5 will be up on pace and be super hard to run down. Prince of Boom($2.90) been in terrific form this prep winning 2 from 2 staying at the sprint trips is ideal and will be just behind the pace and be there at the distance. Startantes($7.50) is a great horse and placed in the group1 Surrond Stakes last start. 8 week break and a trial to keep him fit. Track and distance suits and the wet track no concerns. Ingratiating($5.50) is also a group 1 placed horse. Is great 1st up and the distance suits. Should handle the soft conditions and will be there in the finish. Off to Melbourne and the R7 Vobis gold sprint and we think the Astrologist($4.50) can bounce back here. Wasn’t disgraced in the group 1 William Reid only beaten 2.3l. The track and distance suits and dropping back in grade is ideal. Will be midfield behind the leading bunch and will be steaming home ! Lombardo($5) didn’t think he handled the Sale track last start. Back to Caulfield and stepping out the 1200m is ideal. Should get a beaut run midfield and will be closer then last start. Typhoon Harmony($8) returned in good style first up when beaten by a handy horse. Building a great record and likes a bit of give in the ground. Think caulfield will suit. Will probably be midfield stalking the leaders and if they go hard in front he will be steaming home. Swats That($2.70) hasn’t been disgraced in two group 1 runs so far this prep. Stepping down in grade is ideal. And with Damian Oliver aboard is a huge bonus he is the man in form. Loves the track and distance and will be hard to beat. Sirius Suspect($28) ran on strongly last start at Sale and is getting fitter. 3rd up today and the track and distance suits. Will probably sit midfield here or even closer and will be charging home. Just like to mention Fourmadec($3) has been entered in a few races in Sydney but where ever he starts, think he will be hard to beat. Rail out 11 meters today at Randwick so just be super mindful of that, anything could happen. Pretty good days racing today and plenty of value with the wet tracks still hanging around.
