Weekly Observations 7TH November 2019

IN OUR OPINION! Highway handicaps should always be the first race on the programme and not part of the Quaddies, these races are a lottery at best. No drama about them being on the programme, great for country racing but as a  betting conveyance they are not.

ODDS ON FAVOURITES SERIOUSLY!!! steer clear of odds on favourites especially if you must play the midweeks.  The words “Odds on look on and never run up stairs” once used by the late great race caller Ken Howard are even more prevalent today. Leaving this segment in permanently until the message gets across. Majority of these are false favourites. BELIEVE IT OR NOT!!!

QUEENSLAND WINTER; Once again the Queensland winter has come to the fore just to name three KOLDING won Queensland Guineas then Epsom and the Golden Eagle, Fierce Impact was unlucky in a couple of G1 runs in Queensland then won back to back the Toorak and then the Cantala both Group1’s and the big one Vow And Declare 2nd in the Queensland Derby then salutes in the Melbourne Cup. There would be many more to many to mention, Queensland Racing should be using all these stats to promote the Brisbane Winter Carnival instead bowing to the Southern push to condense the carnival even further. The great trainers have been using the WINTER SUNSHINE FOR OVER A CENTURY to turn GOOD HORSES into Group 1 winners. LEAVE IT ALONE IT AIN’T BROKEN!!!

Below is a list of horses we will be following closely over the next couple of months, all good horses that should pay their way in any race they contest.

Posted 13/09/19 updated 23/1019 updated 7/11/19

FLIT: great run behind Libertini on Saturday when well back, the leaders only went a tick under 35secs the first 600m then home in 33.19secs the next 600m.Back markers were virtually no chance so her run to finish second was very good indeed.

FLIT; won the THOUSAND GUINEAS for us at nice odds.

BRAVE SONG: This horse has wintered up here extremely well and we are hoping he races in the spring, he just might jump another notch or two.

BRAVE SONG; has had 2 runs so far and no luck, one more go for him he just might salute next start at nice odds. Might not have come up after another unplaced run 2/11/9

HOSTWIN SUPREME: one run up here absolutely no luck at all in the Listed Daybreak Lover, hoping he spelled up here. he could be one at nice odds in the Spring.

HOSTWIN SUPREME; has not started as yet.

BACCARAT LADY: we will definitely be following this mare if she ventures south for the spring. Top class and handles all conditions.

BACCARAT LADY; won first up in Brisbane for us  then unplaced at Caulfield 19/10/19 ran a nice 6th did not handle the track. Ran well again at Flemington 2/11/19 might be looking for 2000M.

LUCICELLO: serious horse, virtually given no chance last start when a close 3rd. How far he is going this prep unsure but if he continues will win a good class race.

LUCICELLO; spelling. Back this week 9/12/2019 Sydney. Won at very prohibited odds but it was a good win 1st up.

SESAR: media outlets have a wrap on him not sure it is warranted. But we know one thing he will be winning a nice race over the next month especially on a heavy track.

SESAR;  outclassed.

ALLIGATOR BLOOD: another of David Vandykes horses along with Baccarat Lady. This bloke won with his ears pricked last start to remain unbeaten a very good galloper we are hoping he goes south as well. Because he is trained here in Queensland we should obtain some nice odds about both.

ALLIGATOR BLOOD; this horse did us proud winning the Guineas Prelude at good odds and then going down by the proverbial in the Guineas.
