BR3 H5 EGYPTIAN BULLET($7.50); this mare has returned to form this prep and her run last start was good in slightly higher grade and only goes up a kilo here for dropping back. She relishes this trip and should get a beaut run right on the speed here from gate 2, the BOSS MAN SHOULD ping her from that gate and do what he does best GIDDYUP!!! she is Our Best.
EGYPTIAN BULLET($7); Last beaten 10.2L, beaut run in transit gave nothing on straightening. Stewards report nil.
BR4 H2 TISANI MAGIC($4.40); very consistent galloper and a strong winner here last start he will be right on the speed. We think he is in quite well here with 58.5kgs this is not strong.
TISANI MAGIC($3.10);8TH beaten 5L, terrible ride pure aggression as the horse over raced. Stewards quizzed jockey over tactics agreed he probably should have taken a sit told to take greater initiative in future.
MR7 H6 MR. RECKLESS($10); Waller import ran well only 2 starts here and is a pistol second up, handles all conditions. The distance won’t be a problem, he will sit around mid field and the Sandown circuit should suit him perfectly. Wet conditions will also suit, so watch out for him to be steaming home.
MR. RECKLESS($14); LAST beaten 13L, very disappointing on face value. Stewards report jockey stated horse didn’t handle conditions and stewards found some haemorrhaging internal, vet clearance required before next race.
SR8 H14 DRACHENFELS($20); this horse should have won last start as we have documented previously, he handles all conditions and races very well second up. Senior jockey back on this time in J. Collett who rode him in his barrier trial win. Sylvia’s Mother is the short priced favourite here but with the aid of a decent ride we think Drachenfels can beat her.
DRACHENFELS($21); 6TH beaten 1.2L, conspicuous last before turn then was running on with a full head of steam through the middle when gap closed at the 50m. Would have figured in the finish.(stewards report)
Ipswich Cup not a very strong field as most have been racing in stronger grade than this so watch out for some big form turnarounds. Morendi($26) could be one of these, forget his last 2 runs he was badly checked last start and raced 4 wide no cover previous start he invariably does nothing his first 3 runs after a break and then has a very good record(likes track and distance) I think his main dangers are Fighting Teo one of the few that is in form along with Sampson a group performing horse from N.Z. and High Opinion next. Keep an eye on the track in Sydney rated soft5 this morning it should be upgraded but there will be give in the track . An absolute belter of a day here in Ipswich and the massive crowd will be vocal from the get go and even more so if Morendi can salute in the Cup. Always an exciting and fun day here so on that exuberant note have a great weekend and above all “ENJOY YOUR RACING” and “GOOD LUCK” to all from HORSEBUCK$
POST SUMMARY; In the Cup we had Morendi on top which had every chance, he wasn’t good enough on the day our second elect Sampson ran out of his skin for 2nd paying handsomely for the place($6.90) and Fighting Teo($1.90) our next best ran 3rd and was probably a tad unlucky dipping a few times in running one quite severe. Our Best bets 3 out of the four namely Tisani Magic, Drachenfels, Mr. Reckless figured strongly in stewards reports an the other Egyptian Bullet just didn’t perform to expectations. Definitely a mixed bag for players on Saturday with plenty of winners around the $6 mark and a plethora of seconds in our selections, also a smattering of exotics on a super competitive day including 2 First4’s, 3 Trifectas and 9 Quinella/Exacta’s.
