MR8 H15 Trogir($11); we envisage this horse getting a beaut run just off the speed from gate(5) and with 53.5kgs after the claim think he is well in here. Track and distance no issue and loves good tracks. We expect him to trouble the short priced favourite big time.
Trogir($11 – $5.50); 12th beaten 7.5L, lead until into the straight challenged went backwards poor.
BR6 H1 The Odyssey($6); this galloper is in outstanding form with a great win over Sun City last start who won at his next start and was favourite for the Magic Millions. The Odyssey rocketed home last start and bolted in the start before on a soft track, he could come into gate 7 with scratchings. Goes up 2kgs here but weight doesn’t seem to worry top class juveniles either way he is outstanding value.
The Odyssey($6 – $10); 3rd beaten 2.8L($3 place), sat on leaders hammer all way momentarily hit the front but was quickly beaten off by Exhilerates(impressive) good run all the same.
BR9 H3 Desert Man($6.50); gate (1) should ensure a good run in transit again, he got to the front a little early last start at Eagle Farm and held on for a good win. Senior jockey on today and although up 2kgs might prove a little too good once again.
Desert Man($6.50 – $6); 11th beaten 5.6L, beaut run on the fence just behind the leaders plenty of room to come on but did nothing (firm track?)
SR6 H8 Zidane($13); this horse is also in great form and is in quite well here with his claim(53.5kgs) although up a little in class. He tends to settle mid field but can finish hard he was a little unlucky last start not to finish closer than his half neck defeat. We might even get better odds in this field.
Zindane($13 – $14); beaten 3.5L, 3 wide no cover from the 800m did run on okay ou6th t wide.
BR3 H5 Emphasis($19); this horse has developed a pattern over the years of 4th run in he performs with a senior rider aboard. Good tracks are his go, last prep he probably raced in events that were a little beyond him, races well here and this race is not strong.
Emphasis($19 – $17); 3rd beaten 1L ($4.40 place) ran on well centre of track to just get 3rd we will follow up now on good tracks.
Gold Coast Track Good, Sydney Track Good and Melbourne Track Good; Ashlor($3.50) was successful for us last week in Our Best not a great deal of value there but he looked the goods and won accordingly on a day when value was certainly hard to find. This week in Our Best bets we certainly have found a few at great odds one particularly in Melbourne. Eighteen winners in our top four selections (multi runner players) and the Sydney and Melbourne quaddies small divis though(lots of shorties) we have been having a great run with Our Best bets, it’s a tough gig finding value bets week in week out but something we take great pride in. Our results over the last 2+ years are outstanding along with some great quaddies and exotics so there is something for all players, for the more serious punter we would suggest you follow Our Best (we usually have 3 to 4 selections here occasionally 5) remembering that not all will win so Discipline and a Strategy is imperative for best results over a period. Some high profile trainers want the tracks to be watered constantly to keep the tracks in the old vernacular DEAD, well that’s all well and good and if they get their way the track ratings should go back to the old scale Fast, Good, Dead, Slow and Heavy and not the 9 numbered rating system they have now. There are a lot of horses out there that do not handle dead tracks they skate on it hence the form reversals you see on good tracks(3 & 4) Good4 I.M.O. is a DEAD track not a Good4 or Soft5 and should be marked in a form legend as such with number of starts and placings.
