BR2 H1 HYDE ($4.40); good run last start when a good third at Doomben. Third up today should be cherry ripe for this distance and certainly likes the Coast circuit. Not too badly in here with 60kegs and ” should” be able to idle up just behind the speed from the good draw.
HYDE($); 3rd/$1.90 place beaten 1L, began a touch rough but had the gun run behind the speed. Maybe weight anchored the last 100m. battled on for third.
SR5 H6 ELIYASS ($4); we think he is weighted to win this race. He has a fantastic record and ticks every box here. Probably be on speed but further back won’t hurt his chances. Tough to hold out.
ELIYASS($4); FIRST GIDDYUP!!! led toughed it out too good at the weights.
MR10 H6 A LITTLE DEEP ($4); big win last start coming from last to beat Arkansaw Kid in Listed grade. She is in fine form and is treated nicely with 57kegs in a mares grade race. She can race handier from the good draw and we expect her to be pinging big time at the distance to make it 3 on end.
A LITTLE DEEP($); 2nd/$1.80 place beaten 0.5L, given a crackerjack ride by Kah loomed large at the distance. Just one better on the day.
SUMMARY: Mr. Brightside and Sunshine In Paris saluted for Our Best last week like the stars they are. Good day all round on a tough day. The Group2 Shorts at Randwick is a cracking race. I Am Me ($2.40) Private Me ($6.50) and Lady Of Camelot ($8) are hard to seperate. I Am Me was a big winner first up and she goes well 2nd up. She might race right on the speed this time hard to hold out again. Private Eye will be chiming in big time again as the speed will be on from the get go. He is a top notch galloper and ALWAYS gives his best. Lady Of Camelot super run first up in G1. She will strip much fitter here and if she gets a break on them at the distance it might be too hard to run her down. Stefi Magnetica ($13) massive improver in the Brisbane winter carnival and first up no issue for her. Mumbai Muse($11) racing well and just caught last start in G2 on pacer too. Exciting race. The old adage in racing ” never bet odds on and never run up stairs” has been around for ever and is just as relevant today. Race 4 at the Gold Coast has the odds on favourite in Mishani Lily ($1.75) an undeniable chance but Gin And Tonic ($4) is a very quick commodity and has been trialling super. He is going to be hard to get past especially with a 3keg advantage. Interesting race indeed. Sydney is the big racing today with some interesting contests.
