SR5 H5 CLEMENCEAU($3); races well fresh and the distance is perfect. Hopefully he gets a nice slot just behind the speed and be challenging strongly at the distance. First time in a Group race but it is not a strong G3.
CLEMENCEAU($2.70); 5th beaten 1.95L, did nothing.
BR5 H2 PROPER ROGUE($7); this is a good race with a lot of hurry in it and this horse should sit back off them and let it unfold. Races well fresh and the distance ideal. If the track deteriorates during the course of the day that will be a bonus.
PROPER ROGUE($8); 5th beaten 4.13L, as above.
SR9 H1 BANDERSNATCH($7); we would envisage him being parked just on the speed here as there doesn’t seem to be a lot of toe apart from Ascension. He is in quite well here with 58kgs and the distance ideal while still fresh so 2nd up not an issue. He handles all conditions and we expect him to be fighting out the finish.
BANDERSNATCH($5.50); 4th beaten 2.33L, should have finished much closer , never clear then when run came closed again. Probably 2nd at the very least.
MR8 H8 VISINARI($7.50); good galloper well up to this first up. From his good gate (3) should get the ideal sit behind the speed. Track and distance perfect and fresh certainly won’t deter his chances. The big grey might steam over the top of them inside the distance.
VISINARI($8); 10th beaten 4.85L, seemed to have every chance might have went a bit quick for him.
SUMMARY: no joy last week in Our Best, disappointing to say the least.But we rounded out the day nicely in Brisbane with a healthy First4 in the last $4,700 so happy days for exotic punters. Still plenty of winners in our top 4’s for multi punters. Artorius($9) was a great result and Eduardo I had the bi focals on to see the margin. Group 1 Newmarket today Private Eye ($7.50) is a serious racehorse and we have no doubt will be primed for this first up. There are not a lot of horses who can match it with him once he has a full head of steam up at the distance. September Run($31) this mare is a dual G1 winner and likes the straight, she is huge odds and maybe got in under the radar here. In Secret($4.40) racing very well but is up against the serious contenders now. I Wish I Win($4.80) got home like a train last start and Roch ‘N’ Horse ($21) loves the straight and is a dual G1 winner. One of the premier sprints with a plethora of chances but Private Eye for us. Rosehill and the Group1 Coolmore for fillies and mares Ruthless Dame($8) huge run last start when wide all the way then only beaten in the last stride. She will be super tough to hold out here. Mustang Valley($19) this mare only hit her straps last prep culminating in a G1 success. She seems to be in form again and 3rd up ideal, heavy tracks best but she might just be on an upward spiral. Hinged($8) has been taking on the big guns (Anamoe and Zaaki) and acquitting herself well back against her own sex here might be hard to run down. Annavisto($4.60) is fast but there is bit of speed in this and Sheezabelter($9.50) 3rd up and a good track ideal for her. Good race. Mentioning Dubenenko($4.80) race 4 Flemington unlucky in the Diamond will be getting home hard here. Word is Blake Macdougall’s number 1 fan (you know who you are) jumped ship last Saturday for Zac Purton with great results and his local watering hole will never be the same lol. There are a lot of races today with “edge” horses that are very fit so some results might be strange but that’s racing. Also keep an eye on Eagle Farm track conditions to state the obvious. The Newmarket will be like the charge of the light brigade inside the 200m great race.
