SR4 H1 WHITE MOSS($3.60); big run last start in the Expressway and she is a 2 time winner at this level and should get a glorious run behind the logical leader Irithea. Kathy O’Hara rides this mare very well and second up her record is exemplary, this isn’t a bad little field so hopefully she gets out a little by jump time and she is adept in all conditions.
WHITE MOSS($4.80); 2ND/$2.20 place beaten 2.8L, good ride every possible chance winner too good on the day.
BR5 H15 THE SINNER($6); we were hoping this horse would get a start as he had good form lines last prep with a good 3rd to Gem Of Scotland. He likes to be right on the speed so gate 2 is a huge bonus he has won first up and relishes the distance. Steph Thornton will claim and is in good form herself so GIDDYUP!!!
THE SINNER($6.50); FIRST $6.50/$2.40 GIDDYUP!!! back in 6th place on the fence and worked into the clear at the distance and finished off strongly for a good win. Very good ride indeed.
MR4 H4 MY PENDANT($7); we thought she could win last start but got a fair way back on the fence and ran on well in the straight. She ticks a lot of boxes here and is a pistol third up, she will get back again but expect Ollie to bring her wide in the straight and run over the top of them.
MY PENDANT($11); 8th beaten 4.1L, forget the run completely.
SR6 H2 RED CARDINAL($9); this horse races best fresh and we think this level is his optimum. He will drift a fair way back as usual but there should be some pace on here (Fun Fact) and he is adept in all conditions. This is not a strong Group3 and we fully expect him to be in the firing line come post time.
RED CARDINAL($11); 3RD/$3.60 place beaten 5.2L, beaten a fair way but did run on in between runners will be even better next start.
Great racing today at Caulfield with a Group 1 fest starting with the Futurity(WFA) and Melody Belle and Super Seth should tough this one out. Followed by the Blue Diamond and Hanseatic will be hard to hold out but it is not a one act affair with Away Game, Aryaaf, Letzbeglam and Rulership all in the mix. I personally am having a small each way on Aryaaf($26) as I really think she is good overs here but it should be a great race. Oakleigh Plate and Bivouac and Anaheed are the real Group horses here and I really think Bivouac will be too good and let’s not leave the old boy Ball Of Muscle out of our top 4’s he is not a genuine Group 1 horse but he always gives of his best on the speed. We think the day will be mostly suited to favoured runners in all states and keep an eye on track conditions in Melbourne currently rated soft(upgrade likely) and Sydney heavy also upgrade likely. THE ALLIGATOR once again proved what we have always known here at Horsebuck$ and that is what a super galloper he is AND THE KICKER IS HE IS ONLY GOING TO GET BETTER. OUR BEST bet THE SINNER($6.50) was successful along with 2 placegetters Red Cardinal/$3.60 place and White Moss $2.20 place so plenty to cheer about there. Caulfield what was the go there leader bias was powerful indeed and a lot of the form out of the meeting can be discounted so a few form turnarounds are on the cards for sure. The horses that did win the Group 1’s ARE good horses and certainly relished the bias but there were quite a few runners that we fancied that were not suited and riding them up on the speed out of their comfort zone would not have resulted in success. Although it is disappointing to punters when this happens, there is always positives to take away from these situations and we certainly think we have found a couple of future Group 1 prospects.
