BR6 H3 Savwell($5); first start over the 2000m, we think this horse has been trained for this distance this time in and after a couple of nice runs (after a spell) to finish just behind the placegetters he should be cherry ripe for this. Being by Savabeel the distance should suit perfectly and he just might be able to race a little closer now than his usual pattern. We expect him to be there when the whips are cracking.
SR8 H4 Asterius($7); we won’t be selling this bloke short here, he handles all race conditions and has a very good second up record. Forget his first up run no luck and just behind the placegetters, he tends to get back but as long as the track is not leader orientated he will be steaming home.
BR4 H14 Sharpamal($16); his usual pattern is to roll forward but there is a fair bit of pace here and Lloyd might elect to take a sit. Another that handles all conditions and although placed 3 from 3 over this exact course(1350m) we expect him to be the one they are all trying to hunt down with 50m to go.

Doomben Track Good, Rosehill Track Good, Pakenham Track Good; Pakenham Cup Dal Harraild on exposed form is definitely the horse to beat here right up on the speed but we would just like to mention Swacadelic($26) this is his fourth run back and he gets home hard when right. He was running home nicely last start in the Ballarat Cup and this distance (2500m) is right up his alley we expect him to run well. Last week OUR BEST BET HINGUS ROSE($10 – $5) saluted and provided us with the Xmas turkey, all the trimmings and something left over for New Years GOUGUDTHING!!! While Most Important ran gamely to finish second to his stable mate I Am A Rippa (home the last 600m in 32.95) he also had the bigger weight advantage too. There has been a lot of talk over the last few years that weights are of little relevance in racing these days RUBBISH!! they are an integral part of form analysis along with all exposed stats, the one stat that is a little misleading in my opinion is sectional times every race is a different ball game.
