SR5 H4 TURNBERRY($7) Great run last start when just beaten on the post. We think he will go to the lead again today from barrier 6 and control things up front. Loves the distance and the extra 100m will suit. Only carriers half a kilo more then last start. Hopefully kicks a length or two in front around the corner and be hard to run down. He is Our Best.
TURNBERRY($8.50); 2ND/$2.90 place beaten 0.1L; great run just failed to pick up the winner drove hard last bit.
MR7 H14 YULONG JANUARY ($11) His first up run is better than it looks on paper.He was on a soft track and working home beaten only 3.4 lengths. Back to a good track today is key and the step up to the 1400m is ideal second up. Has the same weight as last start 55.5kg. Has been group 3 placed and Listed placed before. Looks a bit over the odds in our opinion. From barrier 7 would like to see him roll forward and be in the leading bunch. He is best when up in the first half of the field. Great Chance !!!
YULONG JANUARY($9.50); FIRST GIDDYUP!!!; took control, race was all over on the corner.
SR9 H15 NAPOLEON SOLO ($11) Good run last start being well back and held up in the striaght, but when clear wasn’t asked for an effort. That last run was second up and he doesn’t do much second up. Today he is third up of a spell and racing over 1400m. From barrier 11 he will get back but im hoping for the horse not to be burried on the fence. He drops 1kg from last run aswell. So hoping Tommy can get him going before the turn and be charging over the top of them.The speed in this race will help his chances too. This is his chance to win again.
NAPOLEON SOLO($11); FIRST GOUGUDTHING!! sat 3 wide all way but still proved too good.
BR7 H3 IMPROVEMENT ($13) Forget her last run where she found the 1400m a bit too far for her. Back to the 1200m and from barrier 9 should roll forward hopefully getting cover midfield or just behind the leading bunch with some speed drawn inside of her. Jimmy Bourne aboard is a huge bonus. Definately an eachway chance at good odds.
IMPROVEMENT($21); 2ND/$5.30place beaten 0.1L; didn’t think she was going to figure at the distance but picked up to just go down.
Another tough days racing again today with the country tracks having stand alone meetings they can throw up a few surprised results so just be midnful of that. Lets talk about the million dollar race at kembla. Its an OK field but we think Looks Like Elvis run last start he could give this a big shake up. At 26 bucks he is a rediculous price. The Ballerat Cup. Wouldnt surpise me if Kiwia would win this. He ran really well in the Coongy Cup two starts back over 2000m. The raced on a soft track last start which he doesn’t like much over the 1800m. Back to the 2000m on a dry surface looks to me as if its a target race for her. Loves the track too 2 from 2. To Doomben and the Recognition Stakes and we think Niccanova will be hard to beat. Oustanding Stats at the track, distance and first up aswell. Should sit behind the speed here and be steaming over the top of them late. Wasn’t asked to do much in a trial but thats the way he trials. At 13 bucks looks a good eachway play. Hopefully we can get a few more winners in Sydney after last week in Newcastle where it was a tough gig with a host of second place getters but a nice winner there at 26 bucks.
