SR7 H14 Gaulois($8); up in class he is, but he is a very consistent 4yold and really does excel third up. Corey Brown should be able to get him to settle just off the speed from the good draw and 53kgs. Make no mistake this is a tough race but this should enable us to secure better odds. This is a great opportunity for him to secure his first Group race.
Gaulois($8 – $5.50); 6th beaten 3.2L, had a beautiful run just off the pace was there to win at the distance didn’t go on. Every conceivable chance.
MR 8 H1 Pleasuring($14); she is up to a distance now she enjoys, she tends to race midfield and as long as her rider can have her off the fence (she has drawn 2) coming to the turn she should be able to let down. We think she is big overs.
Pleasuring($14); LAST beaten 8.3L very poor effort up running 3rd weakened.
MR9 H11 Hay Now($34); first up she was on the drift(betting) but was probably a little unlucky not to have got the cash(61kgs), she is even better second up an although up in class she drops 5.5kegs very consistent and handles all conditions. Berriman rides well here.
Hay Now($34 – $41); 8th beaten 1.5L, hung out and did well to finish just on the placegetters heels; follow.
BR9 H6 Tyzone($9.50); the draw(11) not so important at this start and has the services of the Maestro here. Two good runs with 4th’s in the Keith Noud and George Moore since a spell and is cherry ripe now and if the sting is out of the track it just might dull the speed horses. Handles all conditions, he will be there when the whips are cracking.
Tyzone($(9.50 – $6.50); 6th beaten 4.4L back in 9th and buried approaching the corner, pulled out wide made ground down the middle of the track.
SR2 H1 Mad For Art($20); if this horse gets to the front it just might be game, set and match. He is a pistol first up and handles all conditions but excels in the wet, distance no problem so he ticks a lot of boxes here.
Mad For Art($20 – $21); 7th beaten 5.6L, fizzy before the start and raced accordingly outside the leader and never settled. Disappointing when you know your race is run before the start. But we will follow this galloper as he has a nice record.
Brisbane Track Soft (potential downgrade) Melbourne Track Soft and Sydney Track Soft; just like to mention Asterius we had him in Our Best last week and he finished 3RD after peaking on his run. The lights were flashing brightly on him for next start and we will be all over him like a cheap suit. We also had Savwell in Our Best as well but he was never going to win the way that race was run back in last place coming to the turn and the leader doing it easy with its head on its chest, we are hoping he starts on the bigger track next start(EAGLE FARM?) over the same distance we think he will be something to have a punt on. Swacadelic in the cup last week pulled up lame and with cardiac arrhythmia. Razor Sharp Quality at Randwick we have Deploy($8.50) on top to beat Cradle Mountain($2.05) probably a big call but Deploy is top class hence his 61kgs he might have the drop on the other horse even with an 8kilo weight difference. Track ratings are exactly that and it can be a little misleading when some commentators say that the track is a even playing field(especially soft or heavy) for all runners after talking to jockeys WRONG!! THE TRACK IS AN EVEN PLAYING FIELD FOR HORSES THAT HANDLE TODAYS TRACK CONDITIONS, its not intentional but some punters would hear that and assume every horse has an equal chance in those conditions, maybe its a moot point but it is a grey area in my opinion. Seventeen winners in our top 4 selections last week and we couldn’t buy a placegetter for our exotics last week it was a seriously tough day.
