BR6 H9 SPICY MARTINI($8) Nice tough win first up. Is second up and stepping out to the 1200m is ideal. Is adept in all conditions and from barrier 1 will be in front, is fitter and will be hard to run down.
SR8 H1 LADYINPINK($8.50) Was huge effort second up on pace in The G2 Queen Of The South when collared late by a good horse. Drops a couple of notches in grade here and drops 0.5kgs. Absolutely loves the slop and will be hard to run down again third up!
MR7 H9 AMBASSADORIAL($4.20) Beaten by the barest of margins on a hideous track at Moonee Valley last start. Stays at the 1600m’s and drops 3kgs going up in grade. Will go forward from barrier 1. We think being back on a good track you will see a stronger finish from him. Great chance 3rd up.
MR9 H5 WINNASEDGE($8) A cracking run in the G2 Tobin Bronze Stakes when 3rd and wide throughout the race so a gutsy performance. Stays at the 1200m and drops a lot in grade from G2 to a benchmark 84. Gets back in his races so barrier 14 is no problem. Only need the track to be playing fairly for him to be steaming home. Loves the track and distance.
SUMMARY: Pretty disappointed on face value for Our Best last week. But nothing like the present to get back to winning ways in that department. Let’s dive straight into the Goodwood and Giga Kick($2.20) looks the bet of the day to our eye. Trialled impressively for his first up run. Didn’t go to plan last prep for him. He’s well thrown in here with 54.5kgs. Ticks all the boxes. Picks himself really. Charm Stone($9) was an impressive winner in the Sangster first up when flew from the back. Has great second up form and loves the track and distance. Perfect gate for his racing style and will be steaming home again off a hot tempo. Ameena($12) didn’t have the best of luck first up when changing direction at vital stage. Excels 2nd up and track and distance suits. Meets the winner from the Sangster 2kgs better. Will be flying. Climbing Star($18) was ridden upside last start in the Sangster. Runs better when ridden correctly. Loves the track and distance and another who will be flying home off the hot tempo. Watchmewin($27) is and interesting runner. Building a cracking record. Was a good winner first up. Super run in the R N Irwin Stakes. Then another cracking run in the John Hawkes Stakes. He won by a space and was strong through the line. This harder again but deserves his chance here and being just behind the leaders from gate 2 another rails run might be in order for J Holder. A cracking race. Goldy has some terrific races today, shame about the weather but it will be insane none the less.
