SR7 H2 EXCELLADUS($4.20): good win last start when just off the speed. We expect him to be ridden similar today from his nice draw(4). This horse relishes wet conditions and is very fit.
EXCELLADUS($); 2nd/$1.50 place beaten 1.5L, every chance really.
BR7 H9 BLACK ON BEAUTY($3.20): first up and track and distance perfect. He likes the soft conditions and there is plenty of toe inside him to allow him to roll forward (his usual pattern). Fresh is best for this galloper nice chance.
BLACK ON BEAUTY($2.60); 9th beaten 1.7L, looked a real chance at the distance until condition gave out slightly.
MR10 H2 WIGGUM($6.50): certainly doesn’t mind the straight and distance ideal. He has had an 8 week break which is perfect for him as he races super fresh. Probably sit right on the leader’s hammer and hopefully pounce at the distance.
WIGGUM($5); 7th beaten 4.7L, disappointed in all aspects not a lot of urgency there.
BR9H3 DAYTONA BAY($7.50): ex Victorian with good form overall. Adept first up and the distance certainly favours him handles all conditions but is certainly a mudder. Nice trial too in good company in slick time. Let’s hope he gets across from his gate as his very best form is when he is right on the speed.
DAYTONA BAY($8); 2nd/$2.80 place beaten 0.7L, had to get too far back but he finished off very strongly. Will be looking for him next start on speed.
SUMMARY: Three from three last week in Our Best a great way to kick start the New Year after a mini let up. Pretty much bench mark races all round today so not a great deal to discuss really. Race 7 at Flemington is an interesting race with Jungle Jim($3.50) lining up again after an all the way win last week. He is nicely in here after the claim with 57.5Kgs.He certainly likes the straight. Will give them sometghing to catch again. Rey Magnerio($2.60) is going great and also likes the straight. He will sit on the leader’s hammer. Up 2.5kegs on his last win might be his undoing. Probably not a 2 horse race with Pink Beau Ty($7.50) and Empressive Enuff($12) both in good form. We found it hard to split the top 2 but Jungle Jim for mine all the way. Like to mention Yangari($12) race 5 Eagle Farm his stas at the track are not that impressive, but he has improved those at his last 2 starts with close finishes. Carrying the same weight as last start in slightly higher grade, relishes soft and the distance is his best. He will be getting home. We had a pretty good year in 2023 with some great results especially in the big races. We hope for more of the same in 2024. It is like living in the Tropics on the Goldy lately with rain, storms and humidity insane. Mother Nature at her best.
