OUR BEST; SR4 H4 DIFFERENT STROKES($3.90) Bolted in last start after taking the step up in grade nicely. Drops in grade and the step out the 1500m suits and from barrier 1 should be able to get the run of the race and take over at the 200m and run clear. Hugh Bowman aboard is a huge bonus! Great winning chance.
BR7 H1 GENZAI THE WOLF ($3.90) First run after an 8 week let up and he loves the track and distance. Been racing against the likes of Shooting to Win and Dusty Tycoon and has beaten a subsequent winner last start so form reads well. Carries 59kgs and drops in grade into this the good tracks suit too. The whips will be cracking.
MR7 H4 IN THE CONGO($4.40) Been in slashing form this prep beating Anamoe last start who has come out and run a cracker in the Cox Plate last week. Has had about a month off and no doubt would have been kept up to the mark during that time for this. Likes the distance and only has to handle the straight to be fighting out the finish, will probably look for the fence if gets to the front so he doesn’t get lost. Huge chance but a cracking race for sure.
BR10 H2 BETTER THAN BEST($8) Great first up run when ran on strongly over the 1000m. Steps up to the 1200m and second up which is perfect ! Drops 1.5kgs from his last run and will be peeling out and be steaming home. Giddy Up!!!
BEST EACHWAY; BR8 H5 COSMIC GOSSIP($13) Ran on strongly to win at the sunny coast last start. Stays at the 1600m which is ideal and has placed in this company before. Likes the track and distance from barrier 10 will look to park about mid field and unleash at the 200m. Has a 2 kg claimer engaged for this with a weight of 54.5kg. Would be surprised if not in top 4 with luck from the gate.
Summary; Had a placing in our best and a couple that pulled up with a slow recovery. So a bit unlucky there but think we have found a couple this week that can run really well. A cracking days racing today so lets dive in and talk about the Golden Eagle and we think Private Eye($6.50) can win here. He steamed home over the top of them in the Epsom. He has barrier 17 but gets back in its running so should be no problems there is plenty of speed so it should suit a back marker like him, he will be steaming home. I’m Thunderstruck($3.70) won the Toorak last start running home strongly from midfield. Likes the distance and will just need even luck in running to be in the finish. Apache Chase($7) has been in good form winning twice this prep. Has won 2 group 3’s and placed in a group 2 and wasn’t disgraced in the group 1 Stradbroke last prep. Good track suits and is good third up. Drops 1kg into this and from barrier 6 will be up on speed from that draw. Ellsburg($8.50) been racing well this prep and ran home strongly in the Silver Eagle so the step up in distance to the 1500m is ideal. Looks like its his grand final here so he will be there at the finish. Media Award($34) a bit unlucky last start when held up most of the straight and got out and ran home nicely. The step up in distance and being second up is ideal, with even luck in running will be charging home down the outside. A cracking race ! Off to Flemington and the Derby and we think Jungle Magnate($18) can upset the fav here. Ran on strongly last start at Moonee Valley when well back and went to the line under not much riding at all. The step out to the 2500m is ideal and is bred to stay. From barrier 5 hopefully sits a bit closer here and will be running home strongly. Could be an absolute slug fest to the line and hopefully our guy can stay the strongest. Tutukaka($8) ran on strongly last start at Geelong over the 2200m and was strong through the line. Drops a kilo into this and the extra 300m is ideal. Forgot You($6) really had to dig in deep last start to catch the stable mate. The step up in trip is ideal and bred by Savabeel is a huge bonus. Gunstock($4.60) ran through the line last start with the step up in trip ideal. From barrier 19 he will need some luck and great ride to be in with a shot. But if things go to plan he will be super tough to beat. Raging Bull($61) won very well in a staying maiden race two back. And was in the Spring Champion last start with no luck what so ever. We are thinking that he might try and lead with this galloper tomorrow for a change of tactics. He is bred to stay and might just run them into the ground if that happens. Exciting days racing today with 4 group 1’s and a host of other great races.
