BR6 H2 XANTHUS($7.50); In great form this prep winning two from 3 races. Last start over the 1400m was a bit too far for him, the step down in distance back to the 1200m is ideal. From barrier 1 if he can jump well and The Odssey misses the jump, he can hold the fence and kick clear around the corner. He has a great chance in this race the whips will be cracking!.
XANTHUS($5); 2ND/place$2.20 beaten 4L, settled back in 4th made a run at the distance but beaten a long way by the winner.
SR8 H2 TREKKING($4.40); Unlucky not to win the Everest last start when looking for a run and only beaten less than a length!. Loves the track and distance will get back from that barrier would like to see him midfield if they can get cover. But where ever he lands in running he will be steaming home and this race is a lot easier than last start. His chance to win again.
TREKKING($5); 2ND/place $2 beaten 1L, 3rd last into the straight and ran home strongly, great run again.
SR3 H1 ASTERIUS ($5.00); This horse ran really well first up and was unlucky not to finish closer than the 2.7 lengths he was beaten. The form around him is good with Grey Worm coming out and winning a 3 Y-O and Up Quality. Asterius peaks 2nd up with 2 wins and 2 placings from 4 starts. Loves the track and distance and from barrier 8 and with JMac aboard should be sitting midfield with cover hopefully. The small field helps as well and the 58kgs is no problem. He will be steaming home and looking the winner with a 100m to go. He is our Best
ASTERIUS($3.80); FIRST; second last in the small field rallied late under hard riding to just prevail. GOUGUDTHING!!!
MR8 H2 LAND OF PLENTY($31); this horse’s second up form is outstanding and has done the majority of his racing at the elite level. He is one of only 3 Group 1 winners in the race, he drops 3 kgs on his first up run and the track and distance hold no fears for him. There are showers around this morning at Flemington but he is adept in soft conditions. His gate (1) is the only query here as he likes to race back in the field but if he gets a crack at them at the distance WATCH OUT !!!
LAND OF PLENTY($41); 13th beaten 10.5L, as the track worsened so did his chances, on the fence the entire race didn’t come on.
SR9 H2 GRIMOIRE ($11); Ran well last start when really unlucky when racing in restricted room and only beaten a length. From barrier 3 expect him to be a bit closer in running, likes the 1300m, and Rosehill will suit him nicely. Drops 2 kgs from last start from 60kgs to 58kgs. Looks a good race for him to win. Great chance at good odds!
GRIMOIRE($9); 5th beaten 2.25L, 5th all the way tightened for a while in the straight but no excuses.
Victorian Derby Day the most exciting day on the racing calendar, Victoria Derby G1 Shadow Hero($3) all things being equal should be too good, Huntley Castle can fill a slot at nice odds. Coolmore Classic G1 we think Cosmic Force($8.50) will be hard to beat , he will be right on their hammer from the get go and hard to go past once he gets to the front. There is a massive push against Bivouac($3.30) fail to see the reason for this as he will be much closer in the run today than at the Valley. In the Group 1 Empire Rose Stakes we are sticking solid with the Queensland mare Baccarat Lady($23) she is a super tough cuddy and her run at Caulfield was very good considering she didn’t handle the track. She will get a great run from her draw, Melody Belle is going to be hard to beat she is a multiple Group 1 winner. Bring on the Melbourne Cup, we are super excited about FINCHE’s chances, he has been our Cup’s horse all along and don’t forget we are posting our TIPS FOR THE MELBOURNE CUP MEETING(all races) ON FACEBOOK FREE. We had a massive day last week with 2 best bets saluting, 19 winners in our top 4 selections 10 of those were on top selections with Broadwayandfourth the best at $19, plenty of exotics as well.
