BR7 H1 THE ODYSSEY ($4.40) What a fantastic prep this horse had last prep. He is resuming had a nice trial to get him ready first up. From barrier 1 he will lead this field. 1200m is ideal and he loves the Doomben track 3 wins from 4 starts. Handles all conditions and the 2kilo claim brings him down to 57.5kgs. Looks super hard to beat and is our best !!!
THE ODYSSEY($3.50); 4th beaten 1.7L; I really don’t think he needed to be restrained when he was he had panels on the horse on his outside (Mad Irish Tycoon) could have just sat to his inside (maybe he was a little keen not sure). Anyway that’s racing.
MR3 H2 INDEPENDENT ROAD($21).Slowly away last start and never going to figure in the finsh being held up for the majority of the straight. Back to Flemington where he has won before. Always an advantage to have experience at Flemington especially winning. Stepping out to the 1400m is ideal and looks to be suited by a generous tempo in this race. Should be steaming home and hitting the front with 100m to go. Great chance at big odds.
INNDEPENDENT ROAD ($26); 9th beaten 1.7L; ran a nice race actually ran to the line strongly .There was a bunch of them all vying for the one spot in this race. Some nice futures coming out of this bunch.
MR8 H1 DOTHRAKI ($11); Are you thinking what are they thinking, we think this is a master stroke by the Snowdens this horse flies second up and he relishes the straight. His last run he was never on the track caught 4 and 5 wide no cover and only 1.1L from the winner. This is his pet distance and he will be right on the speed here. This just might be his Grand Final.
DOTHRAKI($12); 3RD/$4 place; right on the speed and at the distance the same old boy appeared, looked like he was cruising let down just battled away to the line, we think he did his best though.
MR9 H15 ROYAL ACE ($12). Never a chance last start at the valley when held up for most of the race but when clear was not ridden out because the race was over. Back to Flemington nice big track and the step out to the 1700m is ideal. Linda meech back aboard is a bonus. From barrier 12 look for him to be getting back just worst than midfield. A bit of pace on in this race which will suit, Meech might just be stalking Captain Cook the whole way and give it wind burn at the 100m. Stays at 54kgs. Top chance.
ROYAL ACE($8.50); 2ND/$3 place; Take a bow LINDA MEECH an absolute pearler of a ride, he was back and 3 wide early strode up to sit on the leaders hammer until they entered the straight then ran to the lead, early effort told in the last little bit. Cracking ride and a few more top jocks should take note.
What a fantastic days racing we have today with the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes being the feature . We have the old boy on top that being Hartnell. Mystic Journey is the one to beat but today might just be the day for Hartnell. We have a couple of roughies in as well that could give it a shake up as well. Humidor forget his first up run peaks second up over the distance. And Gailo Chop could run a huge race first up. A great race for exoctics if you snag one it could pay nicely. Doomben rated a soft track today seriously ???. Castelvecchio we think this horse will be winning some fantastic races this spring. Hopefully running really well first up to kick off the campaign. Remember Discipline and Stratagy is the key and treat racing as fun. Its more enjoyable that way. On that Note have a great day and good luck to all Horsebuck$
POST RACE SUMMARY: OUR BEST this week thanks to a great Linda Meech ride on Royal Ace to finish 2nd paying $3 a place and the old boy Dothraki battling away for 3rd $4 a place we had plenty to smile about at the end of proceedings. One that got away on us was The Odyssey thought he would lead on his ear in this race instead of being restrained next time for him. Racing usually throws up some unexpected results this time of the year and Saturday was one of them but that’s what make racing exciting. We got in on the longshot action ourselves for our multi runner players when EL CAMPEADOR saluted at $51/$12.80 and SPANISH DREAM lasted for Kath O’Hara at $31/$5.80, also a couple of nice winners at Flemington with Alfarris $9.50 and Spanish Whisper successful at $7.50 both on top selections. Considering Melbourne was throwing up some crazy results we had a pretty good day at the office there. Exotics were thin on the ground but we did manage to grab the main quaddie at Doomben $1,990.10 a nice little result there. Lots of positives to come out of the Southern meetings with plenty of future winners emerging for our followers. BRING IT ON!!! Don’t forget the ALLIGATOR in the Caulfield Guineas.
